Bronte Tagliani is the drop-dead gorgeous model and wife of Champ Car driver Alex Tagliani. Gary Pino of Chapparrel's Diecast Cars caught up with her recently and provides this interview.
Bronte, thanks for taking the time out of your hectic schedule to talk with us today.
First off how are you, and are you having fun this year? Every time I see you, you have a bright smile on your face and you really seem to enjoy being around everyone in the paddock? Do the guys ever pass comments towards you in a joking kind of way?
No, not really. Most of the time I get a lot of good comments about the show, but occasionally there is a slightly alcohol affected fan that might slur off a smart remark.
One thing I admire about you is your ability to handle yourself when you are bombarded for pictures and autographs. Does it ever get to a point where you have to paint a smile to get thru the day, or are you just so at ease with the fans you're having a blast?
I do enjoy meeting fans, of course everyone has those days when they just need a break, but I'm only at the track 3 days of 14 weekends a year - I don't have those days at the track!

One thing a lot of fans don’t know is you have a very decorated resume from your past beauty pageantry in Australia. Do you still do anything like compete or promote events anymore?
I gave up swimsuit contests after the Miss Indy in Australia in 2001, and I did do some promotional work when I first moved to the USA, but now I'm part-time modeling which allows me to choose which projects I work on and allows me to travel with Alex. I'm also working towards becoming a personal fitness trainer and specialist in performance nutrition for athletes.
Sure you get asked this all the time, but I was always curious, when you did Dangerous Curves, and did all those interviews in drivers RVs, did a driver ever get nervous in your presence?
Actually, everyone was ultra relaxed. It really helped that I already knew most of the drivers, and I'm pretty easy-going (being Australian and all!)
You have been called the face of Champ Car this season, how do you feel about that? And how good does it feel to see the stands jam-packed again?
I'd like to represent Champ Car in the hope that more people would get involved in Camp Car racing. If I can help bring more fans to the series, then that's something to be proud of. And, yes I love seeing full grandstands. I think our guys do such an incredible thing when they race - the more people that can be there to support them the better.
If Tag has a bad day at the office does this mean it's a quiet ride home, or do you chill out and watch some TV? What is it like to be married to a Canadian Champ Car star?
Alex does have bad days, but he has really matured as a driver. Now he realizes that once it happens, it has happened and you can only push forward with more enthusiasm toward the next goal on your list. So, I talk with Alex about it, but usually the bad day only lasts about a half an hour or so. He is really down to earth and I think he's just a normal guy with an extraordinary talent. I wouldn't change him for the world!
Bronte as you know I make diecast Champ Cars and eventually we will get something done special for Alex. Maybe we can even do a special Dangerous Curves Champ Car in the future, but for now on behalf of myself and all the fans, I want to thank you for being so approachable and professional the way you handle yourself. In the past gorgeous women in the paddock pretty much scared us away but you are so receptive and fun to be around that it's safe to say Champ Car has the Hottest girls in all of racing, and today its my honor to get to do this with you.
Chapparrel's is and always will be there for the entire racing community and I hope next year to see you at one of the Canadian events. Bronte, thanks again for this, and please keep in touch. Next year I would love to get an autograph for my diecast shop. Enjoy the racing and say hi to Tag for us.
