Welcome
to Chapparrels Diecast!

Your Source for the Widest Range of Custom 1:18 Diecasts the World Over!

Established in 1999, we started out doing a wide range of decal conversions on Ebay and evolved into one of the top custom 1:18 scale diecast race car company, specializing in doing rare and one of a kind creations.

To date, Chapparrels Diecast has done unique work for some the greatest teams in motor racing.  We create unique pieces - from a driver's first win race car,  to anything a team requires for specific projects.  We have filled the needs of some of the world's top drivers - from CART/Champ Car, Indy Racing League and NASCAR, along with some fantasy cars, as you will see on our site.  We also do business extensive work with some very discriminating collectors from, all over the world, looking for that particular race car which was not produced be the diecast manufacturers

Chapparrels has been working for Playboy Racing and their Grand Am program for the last couple of years.  Our involvement with this first class organization, is one of the biggest honors for me.  We were invited out for Heph's 80th birthday bash at the Playboy Mansion in California - as a gift for the work we have done for them. I can't believe the things that have happened to me over the years.

Feel free to venture around our web site.   Victor Varela, runs and maintains our site and is updated regularly, adding many more features, pages and pictures.  We want you to enjoy your visit here, so feel free to contact us with any comments or suggestions.

Also,  please check out the My Space link at the bottom of this page.  I keep a My Space page dedicated to our work, and other things that entertain me as well.  And, last but not least, your invited to visit and join the One18 Racing Message Board.  A great place to talk 1:18 racing diecasts, racing news, rumors and all sorts of motor racing related topics.

Enjoy Chapparrels Diecast !

In memory of the truly unique, Paul Newman.

To everyone in the racing community that Paul Newman has touched over the years I wanna say thank you for your support on this project. I wanna Thank Kathi Lauterbach from NHL, and everyone from NHL that helped us make this presentation possible today! I personally wanna thank Graham Rahal for all the help and guidance.
I wanna extend my thanks to Darice Wirth who has been Paul's assistant for a number of years and without her this also would have not been possible.

Over the last week, I recieved hundred of e-mails saying "do us racing fans proud" with this project, and I hope we lived up to the hype? Jimmy Dolan captured every aspect of Paul's career whether it was movies or racing and we tried to fit everything on a 1/18th scale Lola. I think he did a magnificent job as we may have needed a few 1/2 scale Brinkworth cars to get everything but we did our best. I hope we can get some pictures from Paul or Joanna of the car at some point, but I truly understand the circumstances right now and I know I speak for everyone who knows Paul, that his privacy should be respected right now and we all wish him and his family the best.

As far as the style and car we chose to use, nothing symbolizes NH like the classic black and white cars of the 90's. I didn't wanna use a Reynard or a car that looked similiar to what was available to the public so I went with a custom Lola chassis, and took the Bourdais style rookie design and went to work with that. I also have some 8x10 pics Joe Cifarella did which we sent off with the car. I will post them when I get the jpeg files.

Thanks again to everyone!

Gary

Audi F1 - From computer concept, to physical reality... in 1:18 scale!

From the mind of Audi enthusiast, Kim Stapleton, came the idea, the vision to what is considered to be wishful thinking by many who follow sports car racing and Audi.   And most of these same fans also know that the likelihood Audi entering in the world of F1 is only a far fetched notion at this point.  Yet, seeing those four silver rings gracing the body work of an F1 race car was enough for Kim to create a super-detailed CGI based on an actual F1 chassis.

Well, we took Kim's vision one step further and created this car in glorious 1:18 scale!

As with Kim's work, the diecast car needed the same exacting livery he created on his computer.  The Audi’s racecar livery was influenced from the R10 and R8, the DTM years, STW in the mid 1990’s, and also the historic Auto Union Grand Prix designs from the '30s.  The Audi livery was laid out on the skin of a donor Mattel Renault R26 F1 racecar.

This was truely a departure for Chapparrel's.  With the fantastic decal work by Jim Dolan and Gary Pino's mastery in painting the chassis and uncompromising detail work, we have turned out what is truly a very unique work of art.

With Kim's CGI work and our rendition in this 1:18 creation, maybe an Audi F1 team might be easier to imagine for executives at Audi as well.
